Wait7 ("we," "us," or "our") provides a mobile application that helps you make thoughtful purchase decisions by implementing a waiting period before buying. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our app and website.

By using Wait7, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided)
  • Profile picture (if you sign in with Apple or Google)

You may also use Wait7 in "guest mode" without creating an account. In this case, we generate a random device identifier stored locally on your device.

2.2 Waitlist and Product Data

When you add items to your waitlist, we collect:

  • Product URLs you provide
  • Product information extracted from those URLs (title, price, store, image)
  • Notes and tags you add
  • Priority levels and folder organization
  • Wait period settings

2.3 Decision and Analysis Data

When you use our analysis feature, we collect:

  • Your answers to decision questions (motivation, need, usage expectations)
  • Generated verdicts (buy, wait, or skip recommendations)
  • Factor scores (need, budget, regret risk, value, timing)
  • Rules you create (price limits, wait periods, budget categories)

2.4 Outcome Tracking Data

If you choose to track purchase outcomes, we collect:

  • Whether you bought or skipped items
  • Initial satisfaction ratings
  • Usage check-in responses
  • Regret ratings and "would buy again" feedback

2.5 Device and Technical Data

We automatically collect:

  • Device type and operating system
  • Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)
  • IP address
  • App usage events and screen views
  • Error logs and crash reports

2.6 Subscription Data

If you subscribe to Wait7 Premium, we receive from the app store:

  • Subscription status (active, expired, cancelled)
  • Purchase and expiration dates
  • Product identifiers

We do not receive or store your payment card details. All payments are processed by the Apple App Store.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide core features: Manage your waitlist, run purchase analyses, generate verdicts, and track outcomes
  • Personalize your experience: Apply your custom rules and budget settings
  • Send notifications: Remind you when wait periods end and prompt usage check-ins
  • Process subscriptions: Verify your Premium status and unlock paid features
  • Improve the app: Analyze usage patterns, identify bugs, and develop new features
  • Provide support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues
  • Ensure security: Detect fraud, abuse, and security threats

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Wait7. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

Clerk (Authentication)

Handles sign-in with Apple, Google, and email. Receives your email, name, and profile picture.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share your information:

  • With service providers: As described above, to operate the app
  • For legal reasons: If required by law, court order, or government request
  • To protect rights: To enforce our terms, protect our rights, or ensure user safety
  • In a business transfer: If Wait7 is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we need to retain it for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes.

Guest mode data is stored locally on your device and on our servers linked to your device ID. If you uninstall the app without creating an account, your data will be retained on our servers but cannot be accessed without your device ID.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Export

You can export all your data at any time through the app's Settings → Privacy → Export Data feature.

7.2 Delete Your Data

You can delete your account and all associated data through Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

7.3 Notification Preferences

You can control push notifications in Settings → Notifications, or disable them entirely in your device settings.

7.4 Guest Mode

You can use Wait7 without creating an account by choosing guest mode. Your data will be stored locally and linked to your device.

7.5 GDPR Rights (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights including:

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing

7.6 CCPA Rights (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt-out of the "sale" of personal information (we do not sell your data)

8. Children's Privacy

Wait7 is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@wait7app.com and we will delete it.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure authentication via Clerk
  • Access controls and authentication for our systems
  • Regular security reviews

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data is processed in the United States through our service providers. If you are located outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using Wait7, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Wait7 after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
